Actuator 16

Abstracts have been submitted by Noliac and Cedrat to the ACTUATOR 2016 conference and exhibition that will take place between 13-15 June 2016 in Brehem, Germany. Since 1988 Bremen has hosted the ACTUATOR conference which attracts leading experts, suppliers and users in the field of new actuators from all over the world. With around 500 participants and 200 conference contributions ACTUATOR has become the major event in the field of miniaturised drives.

The Noliac presentation ‘Full characterisation of PZT actuators in quasi-static, large signal operation at elevated temperature’ will propose a method to characterise the operating envelope of actuators over temperature. The approach is based on a series of simple measurements: dimensions, free displacement, stiffness and electrical measurements.

The Cedrat presentation ‘Encapsulated piezo actuators for use at high power levels and/or within harsh environmental conditions’ will discuss the use of actuator encapsulation to overcome temperature related problems caused by internal heating of the ceramic and external environmental conditions. The talk will emphasise the experimental results obtained.
